National Teddy Bear Day History (just for fun!): In 1902, Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear cub during a hunting trip in Mississippi. This inspired a political cartoon in the Washington Post. A toy store owner saw the cartoon and created a new stuffed animal in honor of the president, naming it the "Teddy Bear."
